Jesse’s Curls

“Riverbank” Photo by Michael Perman.

When Jesse was small he wondered if the tightly wound curls on his head were there because he put mustard on his pancakes each morning.

His mom told him this was okey dokey but Jesse grew suspicious and eventually took a civil service examination to prove he was not confused. Passing with flying colors, Jesse began his career as a postal carrier delivering letters to riverside homes inaccessible by automobiles where he met Annabelle, heir to the fortune of an enormous mustard empire based in Peru.

“Alas”, he sighed, “my dreamboat has landed” as the nuevo love puppies snacked on curly endive in a lovely mustard cream dressing that he thought might be quite appropriate for a short stack of flapjacks. Just then, sparkles filled their eyes.
