Does it seem as though every phase in our lives is an inflection point? Or does it seem more like we are hitting terminal points, perceiving a stationary situation at every age…6, 24, 29, 41, 62, or more?

Is this “all there is”, we might ask?

Nope, I say. Our lives are always a work in progress. An omnipresent opportunity to reimagine what’s how we are evolving, expanding our spectrum of thinking beyond the status quo.

In a symmetrical moment, I came across a door sign at an abandoned coffee shop in Portland’s Pearl District, reflecting the owner’s desire to reimagine the future. To me, the sign is inspiring and what all of Portland should be doing right now. Our whole city needs to reimagine its future. So, people will “come to see us again”. Portland has been great, weird, beautiful, disgusting, disappointing, and promising all at once. Our lives move in simultaneous cycles as well.

I also think we all would benefit from closing our personal, metaphysical shop for repair and regeneration every once in a while. A pause to reflect and assess the differences between accepted constraints of reality and the potential for perceiving alternative realities. Being present for our own future.
